RIH Foundation one of a dozen recipients of TB Vets Charitable Foundation’s (TB Vets) Respiratory Grants for 2021

Kamloops B.C. – The Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) Foundation is the grateful recipient of another generous grant from TB Vets that has been allocated to purchasing a much needed Servo-n neonatal ventilator for Royal Inland Hospital’s NICU (pictured left). This Ventilator ensures that as technology changes and improves, our youngest and most fragile patients are receiving the most advanced and specialized care available.

Since 1946, TB Vets has been supporting the frontlines of respiratory care in British Columbia. From the battlefields of World War II to fighting respiratory illnesses upon their return, our BC Veterans embraced the meaning of compassion. They took a holistic approach with their vision of serving disabled and inflicted Veterans, giving meaningful employment while providing a community service to British Columbians.

RIH’s NICU is one of two located in Interior Health and outside of Metro Vancouver and Victoria, it is one of the largest NICUs in British Columbia where premature babies as young as 30 weeks are cared for. Some of the reasons for their stay include low birth weight, breathing difficulty and infection. The Servo-n Neonatal Ventilator, purchased with this generous grant, provides these vulnerable infants with the support they need while protecting the lungs, brain, and other developing organs.

“The RIH Foundation is grateful to be the recipient of another grant from TB Vets Charitable Foundation. The funds will support the littlest and most delicate of patients who come to RIH from all over the Thompson Cariboo Region for neonatal care services,” shared Heidi Coleman, RIHF CEO.
